Joseph and Harvey Meyerhoff Family Charitable Funds Making a Difference in Baltimore and Beyond

Grantmaking

Grantmaking

Funding Priorities

The Funds support a wide variety of Baltimore-based projects, organizations and institutions with an emphasis on programs having the greatest impact on the Baltimore community.  A significant portion of the Funds’ grantmaking supports Jewish communal needs and services in Baltimore and Israel.  Occasionally, grantmaking funds are also devoted to national Jewish initiatives.

The Joseph and Harvey Meyerhoff Family Charitable Funds have been making grants for more than five decades. Several of the funds available in the last 25 years were created at the death of family members. These funds terminated in 2008. We are now implementing a new strategy that focuses on strengthening the middle class in Baltimore and Israel. We are studying issues and organizations and will not be making any new grants until late spring or early summer of 2010.

Eligibility & Guidelines

The Funds’ grantmaking policies reflect the legacy of both the founders and the Trustees in addition to the legal requirements governing private philanthropy.  To be considered for funding, an organization must meet several requirements.  Learn about eligibility requirements here.
